For symptomatic outpatients with suspected deep vein thrombosis (DVT) of the lower extremities, results of a prospective clinical trial suggest that "2-point ultrasonography," or "compression ultrasonography," evaluating compressibility of the proximal veins is as accurate as whole-leg Doppler ultrasonography.
